I love Hexagon Flowers!!

This is a bit of a miscellaneous post but I'm dying to share a few things!! Steven's surgery went really well. We continue to Praise the Lord for His provisions for all of our needs. The surgeon said he was in much danger from the hernia rupturing, more cause for praise! We went yesterday for the Doctor to look at it and all is well. We go on Monday to have the stitches taken out, thank you so much for praying for him!
While I have not had much time for quilting etc. since we arrived, sitting in the hospital gave me to some to work on these precious hexagons and also some crocheting. I just love the bring colors of this yarns. And I also really like the pink and orange hexagons together. What do you think, all pink or pink and orange?

An Awesome Testimony

As many of you know, Steven worked for 9 1/2 years at Belhaven College in the Admissions Office. He was simply incredible in this position. God really used him much in the lives of many students. Yesterday he received the nicest note from one of the students and while he will probably kill me I wanted to share it with you. I left off the student's name because well, it's kinda personal.

"I dont know if you remember me or not but in 2002 you worked for the admissions department at Belhaven. I had a 1.4 GPA and you went to bat for me and I was accepted because of you. It was my last shot at making something out of myself. Its 2010 now and I am writing my dissertation to get my Ph.D from UMC. Ouf of everyone that I have met in academics that helped me, you were by far the most influential. Thank you Mr. Scott for taking a chance on me and I promised I wouldnt let you down!".

School Field Trip to Teuchitlan & Hacienda "El Carmen"

On Thursday we took a field trip to view Teuchitlan & Hacienda "El Carmen". It was about 1 1/2 hour bus ride from the University. The Hacienda was over 400 years old and was captured during the revolution by the Spanish and is now a hotel run by the Mexicans. It is very quite, with a Spa and a small putting green. The architecture was incredible as were the grounds.
Teuchitlan contains restored ruins where tribes worshipped their idols. These mounds were discovered by an American couple and the Mexicans are not finished uncovering all of them. They received some grant money about 10 years ago. It was an extremely interesting view into past Mexican culture and history.

This is actually the chapel on the inside. They had their own personal chapel.

Yes, I found a rocking chair! The students who are all at least 1/2 our age called us Grandma and Grandpa!! But I could have stayed there quite a while!

This room rents for $240 a night but includes your own personal jacuzzi. The guy is Ahmed, the student in our class from Sudan.

They held many festivals here to worship the Sun God, Rain God etc. This cleared out place at the bottom is where they danced.

This afternoon we went downtown with some of our classmates. This city is over 400 years old so it has lots of neat history! Below are some of our classmates. Xavier is on the left and he is from France. Carlos is next in the maroon jacket and he is from Korea. Then there's Winnie and she is from China.  Xavier's finance went with us and she is from Guadalajara so that was especially fun to hear some of the history. 

I love cathedrals and there are many downtown. They are absolutely beautiful!

 

And it wouldn't be Mexico without some Mexican cowboys.

Flowers Make Me Smile

My sweet husband bought me a hot pink geranium yesterday. The pictures don't do it justice. It makes me smile alot!! And notice the cute brown pot!!
